GAPfund award winners – their opinions….
“The project duration is sufficient for demonstration purpose but
short for measuring the impact. The GAPfund is a very good idea and
it needs to be continued if one really wants to bring the
marginalized into the mainstream. » AERF, India
“This was a clear example of addressing GVEP objectives. The project had a special emphasis towards capacity development, to increase access to rural energy services, and to enhance the capabilities of enterprises operating in rural markets. The project developed administration and financing procedures and other service delivery” Energy Forum, Sri Lanka
“The GAIA-Movement and DAPP Zambia are extremely thankful for getting the chance to develop jatropha production for smallholders and especially to start the development of a system that will enable off-grid communities to produce and use biofuel locally. Both parties will continue this work with whatever funds we can obtain for this purpose, since we find that this, in the longer term, will contribute significantly to improve livehoods in rural areas of Zambia.” GAIA, Zambia
“The support of GVEP was very important to do progress in the way to establish new models that will really enable the process of energy access. The main challenge is to attract the big utilities and their corporate structure to bring energy service to the poor. Then, GVEP did the difference, and we are in the right course, advancing step by step. For the first time in the world a reference guide was published to the sustainable management of decentralized generation.” IDEAAS, Brazil
“My recommendation is that GVEP should commit to funding for the 4- 5 years so as to be part of the eventual results achieved, and also assure steady funding and no breaks or slow – downs due to lack of or inadequate funds by implementing partners.” Solar Cookers International, Kenya
“The funding from the GVEP International Grants Action Projects Fund has
demonstrated the sustainability of renewable energy and water systems through livelihoods, other productive end uses and sustainable projects, community capacity building and organizational development and strengthening, and ultimately protection of the natural environment. With the experiences and the lessons that YAMOG has gained in working with upland communities to achieve the goals of this GVEP International- assisted project, we are more than thankful for the opportunity in
working with GVEP International. » Yamog, Philippines
