IN-SHP China looking for African Partners for the "Light-up" Rural Africa Project

Hydro chinaThe “Light-up Rural Africa” Project, which was designed by IN-SHP to promote SHP development in African rural areas, has been officially kicked off at the the 3rd Hydropower Forum. The main feature of LURA is to install about 100 PICO hydro units in remote rural areas to demonstrate how micro-hydro can contribute to tackle poverty. Equipment for the installation of the 100 units can be provided by IN-SHP. At current stage, IN-SHP is collecting site information from applicants. Renewable Energy Promotion towards Rural Economic Development through Public Private Partnership Initiative[PPPI]- Sri Lanka

Human and Community Development Youth Organization in collaboration with the Divisional Secretariat office Thirappane and an experienced Private Sector Organization called Lanka Biogen PVT LTD in the renewable energy sector has began to grow 3000 Acres of Glicisiria Plants in order to fulfill the fuel wood requirement for the proposed community based 1.5 MW Biomass grid connected power project at Thrappane in Anuradapura district, Sri Lanka. The strategy aims to level the existing disparities between Africa’s urban and so-called “rural sector”, which is in fact Africa’s village sector. Read more>

 

S3IDF wins the First World Clean Energy Awards

S3IDF won the first World Clean Energy Awards. The Awards honor innovative projects that move clean energy from scientific and experimental applications, into integrated, broad-based use. Respected institutions from across the world nominated some 70 exemplary projects in 20 countries of which 9 winners in different categories were selected. S3IDF won the award in the “NGOs and Initiatives” category. Read more>

M. MendisGVEP International, in its journey to deliver its objectives, crossed a number of key administrative milestones this past June. The registration of GVEP International as a functioning UK charity was completed with the filing of all legal documents, training of the GVEP International Trustees in their roles and responsibilities, as mandated by the UK charities laws, and a physical meeting in London of all of the GVEP International Trustees on 20 June 2007. The Trustees meeting was immediately followed by a GVEP International Annual General Meeting and a GVEP Partnership Board Meeting with representatives from several developing countries. These necessary administrative meetings provided the platform to plan and execute a number of important operational actions that will facilitate the implementation of GVEP’s objectives to “reduce poverty and enhance sustainable development through the accelerated provision of modern energy services to those un-served or under-served.
