Energy Kiosks Set up In Rural Kenya by UNIDO
As part of its focus on energy and the environment, UNIDO Kenya has introduced an innovative method for introducing energy to off grid rural communities, and tackling climate change. ‘Energy Kiosks’ are described as a ‘one stop shop’, where renewable energy can be accessed for both consumptive and productive uses. Renewable Energy Promotion towards Rural Economic Development through Public Private Partnership Initiative[PPPI],Sri Lanka, Human and Community Development Youth Organization (HCDYO)HCDYO is engaged in producing electricity from biomass (known as Dendro power generation) through a Public Private Partnership Initiative (PPPI). The HCDYO project is aimed at addressing the energy poverty crisis in Sri Lanka. It is designed to address the energy needs of the very poorest in rural areas and contribute to income generation and sustainable economic development. CEDESOL to incorporate 20,000 integrated cooking systems into the Bolivian culture by mid-2009, BoliviaCEDESOL is one of five organizations worldwide selected by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to receive a grant as part of the Partnership for Clean Indoor Air to improve health, livelihood and quality of life by reducing exposure to indoor air from household energy use in developing countries. CEDESOL will scale-up the production of its ecological cookers (solar and retained heat cookers, and efficient rocket stoves with chimneys) to incorporate 20,000 integrated cooking systems into the Bolivian culture by mid-2009. RUBACON has developed the RUBACON Programme of Sustainable Development
RUBACON (Resource Utilisation for Building and Construction) is an initiative of the Dutch technology enterprise, Arcilla Research. Rubacon was established in Tanzania in 2007, and the aim is to open many more centres across the world. Arcilla Research supports technical solutions for converting harmful waste materials into inexpensive valuable resources for building and construction. Read more>
