Financial Opportunities: SSI, the FGEF’s Small-Scale Initiatives Programme
Are you working on biodiversity protection and climate change in Africa? Your project may be eligible for an FGEF grant !
The French Global Environment Facility (FGEF) has launched the second project phase of its Small-Scale Initiatives Programme, which supports civil society organisations in Africa which are actively working on biodiversity protection and climate change action.
Following an initial phase during which 56 projects were funded from 2006 to 2008, with very positive results, the FGEF has decided to launch a second project phase from 2009 to 2011. Two project competitions will be launched each year, with the best 10 to 15 projects selected each time.
The second project competition opened in November 2009. The FGEF will contribute a maximum of 50.000 euros to each project.FGEF financing will not exceed 50% of the total in cases where other international agencies or NGOs will be co-financing the project.In cases where only contributions from local populations, NGOs, authorities or financial partners are involved, the FGEF will fund up to 75% of the total.

Submission deadline for the second call is 15th of February 2010, 6.00 p.m. Paris time.
