Renewable Energy Promotion towards Rural Economic Development through Public Private Partnership Initiative[PPPI]- Sri Lanka - Human and Community Development Youth Organization –(HCDYO)
HCDYO is engaged in producing electricity from biomass (known as Dendro power generation) through a Public Private Partnership Initiative (PPPI). The HCDYO project is aimed at addressing the energy poverty crisis in Sri Lanka. It is designed to address the energy needs of the poorest of the poor in rural areas and contribute to income generation and sustainable economic development. Envirofit International, Philippines Two-Stroke Engine Retrofit Project
March 2007 - After three years of hard work, Envirofit International's initial pilot projects in the Philippines are returning results, and they are now more actively reaching out for organizations and companies to join them in their next stage of growth. Envirofit is currently positioned to scale and replicate its approach -- additional projects are planned in the Philippines, and new projects are being explored in India, China, and Thailand. For 2007, they have thus far secured $400K for their Philippines projects but require an additional $600K to complete their commercialization and capacity development plans for the year. They also require an additional $930K in funding through 2009 to achieve long-term financial self-sustainability for this social venture. Read More>

COGESTEN -Togo - Water and Electricity Supply Project-
February 2007 - This pilot project seeks to give electricity access to 2 primary schools, one college, one secondary school, a market, a leisure centre, a main street and to install a solar pump in the North East area of Lome in the village of Ahepe. Financing is 30% secured but funding needs to be secured for the remaining 70%. Read More> (French version)
NICE LINK Trust - Pakistan - Latest Activities
February 2007 - NICE LINK is a voluntary, non-profit organization dedicated to the development and application of renewable/alternative sources of energy in Pakistan. It also works at building awareness of alternate energy sources within the public and private sectors by holding seminars and putting up models to demonstrate the use of solar and wind power. NICE LINK is currently looking to raise funds for the installation of 43 water desalination plants run on wind turbines in fishing villages along the remote coastal areas of Baluchistan to in order to provide the residents access to clean drinking water. Prequalification launched for installation of Solar Home Systems in Bolivia (DEADLINE: May 20, 2008)
As part of its National Program “Electricity for a Life with Dignity” (Electricidad para Vivir con Dignidad), on April 6, 2008 the Bolivian Government launched the prequalification process for firms and consortia interested in bidding for the installation and after-sales services of 7,000 + Solar Home Systems in seven areas of Bolivia. 3 million Euro available for clean energy projects across developing world
March 2007 - The Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Partnership (REEEP) announced a call for project proposals which support the development of markets for renewable energy and energy efficiency. The project call is REEEP’s largest in its four year history with more than 3 million Euro available for projects in least developed countries and emerging market economies.
