- Full Description
-
The idea is to implement an alternative management system based on the use of local human resources and infrastructure which will provide electricity through renewable systems, improving living conditions and helping approximately 300 families living in the province of Rio Negro, Patagonia.
The methodology focuses on training a cooperative of rural producers FECORSUR (Federation of Southern Cooperatives) and other local stakeholders in the region. It is expected that through this programme an estimated 73 families will benefit from improved access to household energy. The scheme also has the potential to be expanded and its methodology made available on the internet.
About the winning team:
Three organizations compose the project team: FECORSUR, an association of small farmer cooperatives formed in 1994; The Bariloche Foundation, whose expertise lies in research, training, dissemination and the provision of technical assistance when assessing energy planning, the economy and policy. Finally AENOC from the National Atomic Energy Commission is also a part of the team; they have been involved for approximately 15 years in improving water and energy supply access to small farmers.
