Honduras Coordination Platform

GVEP International Project

Aims
In June 2008, the Inter American Development Bank (IDB) hosted a GVEP International meeting in Tegucigalpa, Honduras to assess the interest of local stakeholders in the creation of a GVEP International Coordination Platform for Renewables and Biofuels similar to the Platform established in 2007 in Peru.

Summary

Full support for the GVEP International initiative was expressed by the government, World Bank, GTZ, USAID, associations of small renewable energy producers and networks representing NGOs. It was decided to carry out a mapping of existing energy programs and to identify priorities for the short, medium and long term.

Full Description

With the support expressed by the assistants at the meeting in June 2008, a 2nd meeting was organized in October 2008 to create and strengthen the GVEP Platform as a mean to develop Renewable Energies, Energy Efficiency and Biofuels to improve the energy mix and therefore the local economy and environmental sustainability in Honduras.
