Ten GAPfund projects have been completed in South Asia. Read more>

GVEP International is now initiating a regional strategy for South Asia and has appointed a new Regional Manager, Hari Natarajan. Hari will be developing the strategy and implementing new projects through 2008 as well as orgnising a meeting of South Asian Partners in the last quarter of the year. GVEP International will be working in close collaboration with the World Energy Council in Delhi.

In addition, GVEP International has assisted EDF Energy (London) to invest funding in a portfolio of access projects through S3IDF, the social investment bank based in Bangalore.

 

GVEP International reveals its strategy for supporting sustainable energy access at the Asia Clean Energy Forum

June 2008 - Hari Natarajan, GVEP International’s South Asia Regional Manager presented its roadmap for interventions in the Asia-Pacific region during a pre-conference one day session on scaling up Energy Access as a part of the Asia Clean Energy Forum at ADB in Manila. Proposed interventions at the regional level included the possible establishment of an energy access fund (similar in principle to the fund under development for East Africa), a capacity building facility and a Monitoring & Evaluation facility. GVEP International supports clean energy access for the Asia-Pacific in Manila

In South East Asia, GVEP International co-hosted with FDC in April 2008 an energy access workshop in the Philippines, with a specific focus on microfinance.
