Energy Forum: Increasing access to energy services for the rural poor, Sri Lanka
Energy Forum - Construction of Power House
The project “Increasing and sharing knowledge regarding off-grid Village Dendro Power (Biomass based power generation) Schemes (VDS) in Sri Lanka” has been successful in increasing access to energy services for the rural poor. The project proved that off-grid dendro power schemes are a viable option for unconnected communities living in dry areas.
This is a clear example of addressing and achieving GVEP International objectives. The project specifically emphasised capacity development, increased access to rural energy services, and capability enhancement of enterprises operating in rural markets. The project developed administrative and financing procedures, and the delivery of other services.
