IDEAAS : “GVEP made the difference” - GAPFund project in Brazil
This project proposed training in business and management models for distributed generation systems to help the Luz para Todos (Electricity for All) Programme achieve its goals. The project encouraged interaction between the private, public and non-governmental sectors through seminars, workshops, pilot projects and the establishment of a ‘users’ network, with on-going technical assistance to be provided after the installation of the systems. The project has been successful.
IDEAAS developed the “Center for Learning in Decentralized
Generation: Business Models, Management Models, Technology, Public Policy and Financing.” The centre will organize courses, as well as provide ongoing assistance to the replicators and practitioners of IDEAAS models, such as public utilities and independent agents. IDEAAS is planning to install a small demonstration center in the South of Brazil.
“GVEP support was crucial in developing new models for facilitating energy access. The main challenge was to attract the big utilities, and encourage them to adapt their corporate structures so as to bring energy services to impoverished people. With this, GVEP made all the difference, and now we are on the right course, advancing step by step.”
