GVEP - The Next Phase of Development
GVEP’s new Business Plan has now been unanimously approved by the Partnership Board and the first elements of this were presented at CSD 14. GVEP recognises the need to focus and scale up its activities, moving into the next phase of its development, working more closely with its smaller in-country Partners to maximise the local impact of activities.
Therefore, in the future GVEP aims to work on two levels: at national policy level with its funding and government partners to integrate energy into national poverty strategy papers, and to prepare national energy action plans; and at grassroots, village level, building the capacity of small energy access entrepreneurs to create and consolidate energy supply chains, thereby generating local economic development. GVEP’s experience, and that of its Partners, will be fed back into a common knowledge base to enhance the coordination and effectiveness of a range of different actors in this field. Watch out for news on the rolling out of GVEP’s new strategy in the next newsletter in September.
